Dear Friend,

In our previous blog, Blog No. 38, we discussed the eight action item for the Panel of Experts from Industry & Academia (listed in our Blog No. 29, dated as 29th October 2014) – to create a database of the “fountains of inspiration” and facilitate leveraging.

Let’s think together on the ninth action item (listed in our Blog No. 29, dated as 29th October 2014) today – to create panels of experts in various domains with membership from both Academia and Industry to leverage their expertise as well as periodically review the ecosystem status, and share input on what need to be sustained and what to be initiated.

This is different from creating the Panel of Experts from Industry & Academia. We are referring to a need to create domain-specific panels. Why do we need these panels?

The genesis of these panels lies in the expectations that we have set in the definition of the action item:

(i)                  To leverage their expertise

(ii)                To periodically review the ecosystem, and share input on what need to be sustained and what to be initiated.

Let’s look “why” for each of the above.

(i)                  Why to leverage their expertise? – One of the key requirements for moving towards our goal (You know “what”…) that we see and have been talking about is “Grouping” and leveraging the synergy of “Grouping”. In the present context, we are referring to domain-specific expertise which exists at Academia and Industry, largely separated and thus both Academia and Industry missing an opportunity of “multiplication by addition”. We see a great value of this “Group Synergy” in addressing a possible expertise gap in addressing support requirements.

(ii)                Why to periodically review the ecosystem, and share input on what need to be sustained and what to be initiated? – We have shared several times in our earlier blogs that Industry is essentially dynamic, and hence nothing that is OK and enough today will continue to be so in the times to come. Hence there is a need to review the status, take an objective view, and identify changes – periodically.

….and, of course, implement the changes!

Please share your thoughts – We’ll wait for them as usual…

Respectfully yours,

Team infiDOF
