In our previous blog, Blog No. 35, we discussed the fifth action item for the Panel of Experts from Industry & Academia (listed in our Blog No. 29, dated as 29th October 2014) – to initiate and oversee Technical Developments for meeting “below-the-horizon” requirements.
Let’s think together on the sixth action item today – to create forums and platforms for Academia and Industry to share learning.
Let’s review for a while the current scenario of knowledge-sharing between Academia and Industry. Few of the current modes of knowledge-sharing are:
(i) Technical details published
(ii) Seminars, and workshops
(iii) Academia and Industry joint reviews (e.g. for some of the Aerospace Programs in our country)
(iv) Folks in Academia moving to Industry (and vice versa) as a career shift
Are the above enough? Are both Academia and Industry aware of the technical achievements of each other on a real-time basis?
No – We feel – due to various reasons, including the inadequacy of the current modes of knowledge-sharing!
We mean to set up formal forums and platforms…for both you and us are here with a purpose, and hence we would not take things for granted. The knowledge that gets generated at both Academia and Industry on a regular basis must to available for each for the purpose that we have – the purpose of getting ahead as a country in contributing to the Global Engineering Requirements.
Please share your thoughts – We’ll wait for them as usual…
